24 I tell you, many prophets and kings longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it.
No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”Ģ3 Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you have seen. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.Ģ2 “My Father has entrusted everything to me. 20 But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.” Jesus’ Prayer of ThanksgivingĢ1 At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. 29 For our God is a devouring fire.ġ7 When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!”ġ8 “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! 19 Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven! 26 When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” 27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.Ģ8 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. 24 You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.Ģ5 Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. 23 You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. 20 They staggered back under God’s command: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” 21 Moses himself was so frightened at the sight that he said, “I am terrified and trembling.” Ģ2 No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. 19 For they heard an awesome trumpet blast and a voice so terrible that they begged God to stop speaking. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.”ġ8 You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.”ġ1 But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”ġ2 God answered, “I will be with you. 10 Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. 9 Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. It is a land flowing with milk and honey-the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. 6 I am the God of your father -the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” When Moses heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at God.ħ Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.
“Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.”Ĥ When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!”ĥ “Do not come any closer,” the Lord warned. 3 “This is amazing,” Moses said to himself. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. 3 One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian.
